This innovative FinTech business based in Dublin and part of the revolution in digital payments, is producing an expanding range of electronic services aimed to help businesses and consumers process their transactions more conveniently. They are now recruiting for a Money Laundering Compliance Officer to ensure compliance with Central Bank policies on Anti-Money Laundering & Terrorist Financing.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Design the internal practice, measures, procedures and controls relevant to the prevention of Money Laundering and terrorist financing, and describe and allocate the appropriateness and limits of responsibility of each department involved
  • Develop and establishes the customer’s acceptance policy and submit to CEO then the BoD for approval
  • Prepare a Risk Management and Procedures manual regarding Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing
  • Monitor and assess the correct and effective implementation of the policy, to be decided by the Board of Directors, in relation to the prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing, and the implementation of the AML Manual measures
  • Apply monitoring mechanisms to assess the level of compliance of the departments and Company employees
  • Give guidance for corrective measures where necessary and inform the BoD if needed
  • Receive information, in a written report form, "Internal Suspicion Report", from the Company’s employees regarding suspicion of Money Laundering or Terrorist Financing activities
  • Evaluate and examine the abovementioned information by reference to other relevant information and discuss the circumstances with the person who made the Report and if necessary with his/her superiors
  • If necessary, after the abovementioned investigation, complete a written report, "Compliance Officer’s Report to the Unit for Combating Money Laundering" and submit it to the FIU of Ireland as soon as possible
  • If after the evaluation is decided that there is no need for notifying the FIU, the reasons for such decision should be explained in the "Internal Evaluation Report"
  • Act as the first point of contact with FIU of Ireland, upon commencement and during an investigation as a result of filing a report to FIU
  • Detect, record and evaluate, at least on an annual basis, all risks arising from existing and new clients and merchants, new products and services and updates and amend the systems and procedures applied by the Company
  • Ensure that the Company’s branches and subsidiaries that operate in countries outside the European Economic Area (if such branches are deployed and such subsidiaries formed), have taken all necessary measures for achieving full compliance with Customer Identification, Due Diligence and Record Keeping Procedures
  • Provide advice and guidance to employees on subjects related to Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing
  • Determine the Company’s departments that need further training and education for the purpose of preventing Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing and organize appropriate training sessions/seminars
  • Prepare and apply an Annual staff training program
  • Prepare an Annual Report
  • Respond to all requests and queries from An GardaSíochána and Revenue and the Competent Authority and provide them with all requested documents and information as required to exercise the supervisory and monitoring role

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Significant previous experience as an MLCO or MLRO in a reputable Financial Organization
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Good written and verbal communications skills (English)
  • Ability to influence colleagues to provide the necessary Data & support in the enforcement of compliance
  • Successful candidate must be acceptable to the Central Bank of Ireland

Desirable Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience of working in a Multi-National Organization
  • Good Global understanding of Money Laundering and Terrorist Funding Risk
